I learned to drive in Africa and I can tell you it was no fun, because on the roads of Nigeria are,not proven nor tested, but self acclaimed reckless versions of formula 1 drivers,so much so that Lewis Hamilton stood no chance if he came in contact with these reckless public transport bus drivers the so called Danfo drivers especially,who wants to make more money in a day than the central bank itself takes in.
They will honk at you,jeer at you,make fun of you and even advise you to give up, and I never thought I stood a chance.But many years down the line,its a whole different story,I wouldn't go into any details of the extent of my competence at the driving wheels now,facing these then road bullies,but I can say this much that, I let them know I have a right to the road too,and I do not say it in words(LOL)!
The message is,in life you will only overcome,when you declare your right to be here and face head on that, that intimidates you,whatever it may be, be it persons,situations,things or beliefs.
As humans,we will always come across situations that will seem or is overwhelming and make us feel giving in and giving up,or not to demand for change is the best option.But have you heard of this proverb,that says " Tough times do not last but tough people do"?. They mean it,it is no gainsay. Tough people are the ones that make history,tough people are world players, tough people are the news,tough people are the innovators,tough people are the pacesetters,tough people simply decide:the top,the forefront of everything is where they belong and take their seats there.They are risk takers,decision makers.
Tough people are laughed at,in making, but are the ones that remain laughing at their bank statements as the dividends of their hard work in the form of money,assets, roll in all round the clock.
You are not where you want to be,are not how you want to be, not in what you want,seeing the change you want,simply because you have not devoted your all to it nor developed the mental toughness to see you through till it comes to pass. You still have a plan B,an alternative,or you simply do not believe in it enough. It is not a do or die affair,I can hear you saying! It is about your all,and I mean your all. The doggedness that saw Mandela to and through incarceration for 27 years ,to seeing South Africa getting its independence and to him becoming the president.It is that same doing, that same tenacity that sees,Serena and Venus through their games and to the world class tennis players posters that adorn your wall. It is that same sheer determination,audacity that saw Obarack Obama to see,saw,and conquer,to be the 1ST elected black president of the United States of America,and saw Martin Luther King's most daring dream of hope and what he stood,fought and got killed for come to pass in our life time,it is the same doing,back then, that we are seeing today that saw the group Diversity,Susan Boyle in their vulnerability, giving it their all and making world headlines as the stars of Britain's got talent 2009.It is what saw Yasmina become the next apprentice of Sir or should I say Lord Alan Sugar. It is not a dying affair literally,but in the form of a committed end goal win only focus driven doing posture that defies all hardship in the process of getting there. It is a doing affair,a devoted daring affair,a mental toughness affair.
