1.BE THANKFUL FOR THE JOB:
Now the way to go about this is not to just say " Thank God I have a job, absentmindedly," Actually highlight what you love most about your job.And give thanks,
Does it pay your bills?then list all the bills that your earnings from this job enables you pay. Then give thanks.
Write down all the opportunities this job has brought your way as well as the contacts.EG the experiences, the encounters, the places ,the people, the team, that has come your way and added value to you, your knowledge, self esteem, brilliance.
Name the skills, the personal development benefits that has helped you deliver at high performance level, the training, the courses, the mentoring, the coaching, the networking, the magazine subscriptions, memeberships, the physical fitness benefits you are entitled to.The priviledge to able to grow and be yourself. And give thanks for it all!
2.SEE YOURSELF AS A VERY VITAL PART OF THE BIGGER VISION OF YOUR ORGANISATION:
This is so important, and essential. Do you know that whatever role you are in,in a job,it was created because it is a crucial part of actualising the main objective of your company,it needs you to survive, just like you need it too, it was not created in error my dear!believe me! So act like you know you are important and your role matters! Make your role outstanding so that it is felt across the company that you are keyed in to the vision, give it the drive it needs, the passion, the creativity and watch the adrenaline pumping you all back to purposeful steps and driving boredom away!
3.DO A CAREER AUDIT CHECK OF YOURSELF.
So why did you get this job in the first place? Was it because it aligned with your own personal career goals? If so what stage of it are you,is it still meeting that goal of yours? Or were you just testing the waters to see if you would like this and make a career of it? If so, what do you think of the job so far, are you staying or is it time to plan to check out and go do what you really want to do? Or was it an in between job and you didn't envision staying in it this long? So has your circumstances changed and can afford to move on now? Then do not waste time, plan to move on!If your circumstances hasn't changed, then think about things and ways you can do this job and enjoy it while it last.Or better still, keep abreast of developments in the field you want to get in to and keep looking for the opportunites.
4.CHECK YOUR HARD/SOFT SKILLS. ARE THEY MAKING OR BREAKING YOU AT YOUR JOB?
By this I mean your time keeping skill, are you a perpetual late comer, the embarrasment of this could affect your pysche and demoralise you to become bored at work. How about your peoples skill, do you interact well with others, or are you a loner, keeping to your self and not much of a contributor in anyway in the team,do you offer tea rounds and do you go out of your way to give a helping hand or volunteer on a project, all of these is important.
How about your attitude,do you have a positive influence or are you always negative, which is different from holding and stating your own views! Do you have a cordial working relationship with others? Are you approachable, friendly and team spirited?
How professional or unprofessional are you at your job,do you see and request for supervision as required, to discuss your work and you? Do you ask for what you require to do your job well enough? Do you give feedback and ask for feedback on your job and do you reflect and work towards improving on those feedback you get?
5.STATE OF MIND.
Believe it or not your state of mind also contributes to how you do and see your job. What state is your personal life in? How is your health, your finances, your social life, your family, your dreams and aspirations, your relationship and your spirituality, your emotional and mental state? Believe me if one area of all these isn't right, it quickly spreads to the rest,so be mindful of your state of being.
Well,at least start with this few and see if you can fall in love with your job again.
Still bored? Maybe, really it's time to move on from this job.
Have a nice week!
