DO YOU KNOW YOUR SDG GOALS? KNOW YOUR GOALS!

Moi on Media awareness of the SDG goals.
As the MDG goals comeS to an end, they were deem too narrow ,so it did have its up and down sides. A down side it was, that it overlooked the holistic nature of development- ie gender inequality, human rights and economic development were overlooked in the 8 MDG goals. The up side included that the MDG was a  global framework  for governments to develop global policies around, and which the NGOs could measure and use to hold them to accountable.  The developed world for instance, felt their major role and impact on the  outgoing MDGs  was an overseas aid programme or player  designed to end poverty and improve the lives of poor people in  the developing countries, all in all the Millennium Development Goals came , saw and conquered.  By January 2016, the SDGs which replaces the MDGs sets in, it was not reached with kids gloves, rather the UN had the widest consultation, its ever done to get a world view of what should make up the SDGs and that outcome led to the formulation of these 17 goals and 169 targets  to be met.

The  SDGs 17 goals include
1) End poverty in all its forms everywhere
2) End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition, and promote sustainable agriculture

17) Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development
The buy in of governments and private sectore is key to the success of the  SDG goals, especially when the question on how to fund it goes beyond assumption but calls for political will and  direct policy in budgetary commitments.
