BORIS JOHNSON THE OLD KID NOW ON THE BLOCK
With Boris Johnson resuming as UK's Prime Minister I cannot see him getting beyond the end of October as he knows he wont stay longer, he just isn't that a popular choice with the electorate if an election is called. But the lack of serious action by the opposition might make the seeming not preferred the only choice. This is about that personal ambition that they all have, no mistake about it. As of this very moment, Boris has achieved his long term desire to be named Britain's Prime Minster anyway.
Boris during the hustings was never cornered into explaining how he intends to get Britain out of the EU by the end of October, but his party members who have voted him in would rather a braggadocios to civility that Jeremy Hunt oozed and civility hasn't worked in the case of Theresa May and an example and rallying point in Donald Trump's character and body language isn't too far away. Or why else would a man not trusted, known to be shifty as the polls have shown become the Conservatives leader and thrust upon the British public as Prime Minister, the Conservatives are lacking in leadership sustainability.
Boris can neither get the UK out of the EU nor unite the country as needed, he has no emotional intelligence to achieve this, his 1st speech as prime minster is as divisive as it can be, flat it fell with no convincing authority but ruthless audacity. If there was an election today Boris stand no chance as the conservatives candidate of winning, but maybe another candidate. Boris wont be said not to have hit the ground running- his cabinet already in place. That could be imbibed by any serious democracy in the world, whether developing or developing!
Having said this much, the opposition party, Labour, is in a lame duck mode, the leadership under Jeremy Corbyn lacks lustre to win the general election, no he won't be calling for a vote of no confidence in Boris Johnson to trigger an election. Labour hasn't been much of a firebrand in the discussions of Brexit but instead played it safe when it should be all action. And if it can get past its own internal demons - the antisemitism row being one, perhaps, just perhaps. The Lib Dem too have an old kid now on the block, its new leader, a young and vibrant woman Jo Swinson, the first woman leader of the party and the youngest person to hold the position. She has been the Member of Parliament for East Dunbartonshire since 2017, having previously held the seat between 2005 and 2015. She is back and rearing to go.
Perhaps its time to shop around for our political needs like we do seriously of our other needs and no more blinding loyalism to the existing; all parties should be seen not to be taking their voters for granted, they should be seen defending robustly the party ideology that is no longer the case in my opinion.
